Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1627-1680) was the founder of the Maratha empire in the western part of India. And unlike the other Kings , he didn’t inherited his kingdom but he established it with the help of common people. There are many reasons because of which Shivaji Maharaj is revered and respected throughout world. And some of the reasons are as follows- he respected the dignity of the labour, especially of the ryots (peasants), upholder of the rule of law, and not a dogmatic king. And most importantly he respected both men and women alike, irrespective of their caste, creed and ethnicity. in order to make Maharaj a successful King , all basic qualities contributing are skillful management and effective leadership. He is also regarded as the father of Indian navy, Shivaji Maharaj had a strong navy and army too.He had started from zero and built the Maratha kingdom.

On , 3 April 1680 , Shivaji Maharaj passed away .



and in 1681 Aurangzeb entered Maharashtra and when one studies that period from 1681-1707 of 27 years. 

The period that Aurangzeb was in Maharashtra , during this period Sambhaji Maharaj fought a war for many years…. 

The letter that Aurangzeb wrote, thought that Shivaji Maharaj was no more , yet in those letters ,he mentions that in those 27 years, the opposition and resistance he faced , the wars that he had to undergo.

About all this, he mentions that Shivaji is still troubling and worrying me. The wars and opposition that he had to face , this inspiration and spirit , Aurangzeb called it   ‘ Shivaji ’. 

And I firmly believe ,that even if you take Peshwas, their valour is based on the same inspiration.

And, even today we all take that inspiration and spirit ahead.Hence ,we are blessed to have a leader like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
